A little trivia for ya.The voice of "ground control" talking to the chopper pilot is one? other than Chris Reeve. He was already a pilot himself so he was familiar with the radio lingo. So they haaaad im do the voice -over."We have Miss Lane here for a quick ride to Metropolis Airport to meet Air Force One".

@StreathamG Be at peace my friend, cos something tells me that your mother's first act on getting into the big palace in the sky was to sit and chat with Christopher Reeve. I believe a man can? fly, and right they've both flown higher than any man.

Superman exists. But his exact? whereabouts are top secret. Only the government knows how to contact him.

So coooool! These special effects wouldn't even look? too out of place next to more modern movies. Plus, the phone box bit is so clever. It makes me giggle. Oh, and I've noticed a bit of dislike toward Smallville in the comments here. I'd just like to say that I think Smallville is the bomb. ;)

This has to be, the most perfectly made? action movie of all time...some people may disagree, and they're well within their right to do so, but, you just can't go wrong with oldschool...the dynamic simplicity of the film, is what will continue to create, cheers, tears, and goosebumps, for generations to come...

The message that this movie portrays, is that, we all can be,? "Superheroes" in our own personal lives...Supermen, Superwomen, Superchildren, Superpeople...and we can commit acts of heroism, far greater, in the real world, than that portrayed in any fictional comic book...

The phonebooth.... *cracks up* That one single? 4-second scene cracks me up every time I ever watch this movie.

@biofire Thanku for your kind comment. My Mum was nearly seventy years old when we watched this magnificent film together and it was? lovely to see the wonderment in her face - she really was totally emersed in the film from the moment Marlon Brando first spoke. It was as if, for a brief moment, she forgot all her aches, pains and troubles and became a child again caught up in the magic of SUPERMAN. The power of this film really did touch people of all ages and will always be special to me.

so freaking epic when he grabs the helicopter. he's just looking at it smiling like "pfft". and the special effects? are outstanding to have been done in 1978

Never going to be another Superman like Chris Reeves. Just like there will? never be another Lone Ranger like Clayton Moore. No need to try. Just the way it is. And Margot Kidder was an excellent Lois Lane.
