Dakine? didn't provide a waterproof rating. A lot of the packs are made with the same material and I've taken my pack out in a crazy snow storm and didn't have any problems with the contents getting wet. -Benson

I just bought this, it's not incredibly large I can't imagine many books fitting in it. This pack is really seems geared towards a back country day trip. enough room for a full bladder of water, a lunch, avalanche gear. There is? a waist and chest strap which i doubt you'd need walking around campus. don't get me wrong it'a a great bag and only costs $65 but personally i dont' think it's ideal for a book bag.

It's a great backpack for prettymuch anything. I even use it? for school as well. plus it's pretty compact so it never sticks out from your back that much.. I got the one with the blue and yellow zippers and straps and stuf it looks sweet..
