I met a Vietnam era Huey Jock who was a Little older & he told me he wanted into the OV-1 program. The Army told him "We don't know if a guy your age can handle three pieces of tail" ? :)

Yes it was. I was a OH-6A Crew Chief. Late 1968, we were told to move our aircraft. Well, the OV-1 had come to town. I thought it was strange? to have a secret prop plane. Some asshole comes out to our area and reads us the riot act. He said this was all secret and not to take any pictures. This jerk did NOT go through the chain of command. This was Vietnam.

There was a US Army base 4 miles from the local A/P that I was a line boy at as a HS student for 2.5 years in the mid 60s. So the OV1 was a common sight for me n I often got to park them. . However I never saw one in Nam (ground or air) but I did see OV10 Broncos daily, often in a formation of 4 on down wind flying over my Army? base (Bienthuy Army Navy air field) in the delta.....

FYI: . I was trained in the US Army to maintain the OV1's photographic equipment at Fort Monmouth NJ in 1969. Funny, after training I hardly ever saw an OV1 again. . A few years back I saw 10 or so OV1s at an Argentine Army base near Buenos? Aires.

God I love air shows. First time i flew in something other than a commercial jet was at an airshow in atlanta, my dad paid to let me fly in a Bi Plane it? was amazing. But choppers really get my rocks off lol Cool vid, air shows are truly magical

Yes you can, because civilian organizations fly them all the time? at air shows. They are just "de-milled", meaning all the weapons and COMSEC equipment is removed.

This was? last year, before they canned the Muskegon Air Show. I will miss it dearly.
